Do you want to go to the Nether but have not found any diamonds, and either can't/don't want to trade for them in order to make a Diamond Pickaxe? In this tutorial, I'll explain how to make a Nether Portal without the use of a Diamond Pickaxe.
You will need:
- 22 pieces of Cobblestone
- 10 buckets of lava
- 1 bucket of water
- Pickaxe (at least Wooden)
- Flint and steel
First off, dig a 4x1 hole in the ground where you want the bottom of the Nether Portal to be. Then place a Cobblestone block in each end so that there is a hole in the middle. Then pour two buckets of lava into the holes. Pour out the bucket of water nearby, but not on top of the lava. After the lava turns to obsidian, use the empty bucket on the water block to scoop up the water source block to remove all the water. Next build the following shape using cobblestone blocks:
Where A = No block and B = Cobblestone block. Pour the lava in the left and right holes, then water on a cobblestone block in the middle to turn it into obsidian. Repeat twice more.
Next, block out a 2x1 hole for the last two blocks on the top, aligning them with the two obsidian blocks in the ground (where the side by side cobblestone blocks are). Fill with the last two lava buckets, then water on a cobblestone block to transform them into obsidian.
Finally remove the cobblestone and light the portal with the flint and steel. Congrats, you have built a Nether Portal without any diamonds!
