Lapis Lazuli, also called Lapis, Blue Dye or Dark Blue Dye, is obtained by smelting or mining Lapis Lazuli Ore with a Stone Pickaxe or stronger. It can be used to dye Fireworks, Wolves' collars, Sheep, Wool, Glass and Hardened Clay. It can also be crafted into a Lapis Lazuli Block. Lapis Lazuli Ore will spawn at the lowest few levels of the map making collecting the stuff quite challenging. Lapis Lazuli blocks are one of 3 mineral blocks that cannot make the Beacon Pyramid, the others being Redstone and Coal. As of Minecraft 1.8 Lapis Lazuli is now used for enchantments, along with the previously required experience levels.
- Lapis Lazuli is sometimes shortened to just Lapis.
